Dear Parents,
Today was a blast!!!
We went to the zoo and it was sooo much fun!!!
We went to the reptile house, butterfly house, feeding the lorekeet, the kangaroo exhibit, anteater exhitbit, and more other exhibits!!!
When we came back, we got to outside for recess and an accident happened!!! sob, sob, sob!!!
Alex Brocato wnet to the nurse because someone accidently hit her in the face with a tennis ball!!! I hope she is better!!!

CAREER DAY TOMORROW!!! BRING SACK LUNCH!!!
Dear Parents,
Today we started to work on our podcast because somebody pushed it and it fell down and Mrs. White had to take it to the computer shop and fix something, when she brought it back, everything was deleted and so now, we had to start all over again!!! So now we actually did better and now we're almost done!!!
After lunch Mrs. White went to a meeting and a substitute came and we finished watching SECRET GARDEN.
After that, we went to reccess and when we were about go, we saw Mrs. White!!!
Today was a great day!!!

Today we had a excelent time in our school!!!
When we got in the classroom, we had to do scholastic news, then we did a bunch of work during writing!!!

Dear Parents,
Today we had reading in the morning, finished our podcast, played a new math game then we went to P.E..
After that, we worked on our explorer and we have that for home work. Then we packed-up and then we had a great surprise of Mrs. Coutras coming and we all celebrated Mrs. White's Birthday and got iceream, cake, and chocolate syrup!!!
After that we had recess but it was only 5 minutes long though, we did have a great time!!!
Today was a very relaxing day!!!

Dear Parents,
Today we started with D.E.A.R time today after a long time.
After that, we all came to the carpet and we talked about our podcast. We finished our life project and we moved on to early explorers. Tonight, we have to work have to work on finishing our research on the explorer.
For lunch, we got to eat in our class-room and watch a movie called The Emperors New Groove! But Mrs. White got to eat some very delicious food with the other teachers!!! like brownies, pound cake, chips, and more!!! Everyone asked Mrs.White if she could save us 19 brownies, but, unfortunately she didn't!!!
But, other then that, we had an excellent day!!!

Hello Parents,
Today we had our Vikings test.
We got asigned to a new group for doing our podcast!!! We're working on new segment for our podcast like, our Sister city, history about the civil rights movment, Sports, and more!!! We went around the school today asking teachers what they think is important to share about Birmingham. Then we came back in the classroom and researched what they suggested and found pictures.
Next week we'll start explorerers and plants. Also next week will be spirit week!!!!

After that we had independent reading and then we had division. In division, we wrote what we thought division was and we worked on grouping our class.
In P.E. we played prison ball and had our sit-up test.

April Fools!!!!!
Dear Parents,
Today was testing and it was so hard because testing was longer than yesterday!!!!!:D
At lunch we got to eat outside, but Mackenzie, Preeti, Lucy, and Alex sat at a table where there was a wasp. All those girls screamed and saved their selves from the wasp.
Tomorrow we are starting our own Podcast and we all hope you will check it. We are going to be pin-pals with a school in Kenya called Roslynn Academy.
While we were doing that, Alex and Mallie traded places and that didn't last so long!!!!!! it probably would have lasted longer if Lucy hadn't noticed the different color of the rubber-band that Mallie was wearing. Then Alex and Mallie came to the room and we all saw that they played an April Fools joke on us!!!!!!!
Tomorrow we will work on our Podcast, Timetoast, Vikings and other things now that we don't have to worry about SAT's anymore!!!

Today we had what seemed like half of a day of SATs. After SATs we came up with our team names for our tables . They were countries.They were Norway, Tanziniea, and Brizel.
We learned how to do time toast and Mrs. White told us to do our time line from the begening of our life with our parents helps.It can have anything!!! Pictures, Celebrations, and everything else you can think of!!!!!!

Todday we had our ARMT test. It was very quiet though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tommorow we'll have Math but I don't know what it is called, like ARMT or SAT's.
Today Brooks's grandpa and grandma came to visit and answered questions that we asked and they stayed for lunch too!!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs. White showed us a video of her being at the equator in Africa. It showed how water drains in different directions in the different hemispheres. We wondered why that happens and are going to ask Dr. Richardson if he can explain it to us.

What we are doing in the project is we are researching the question and then we have to come up with a creative way to show it to the class. Some of our questions are..."Who invented the map?" , "How was the Grand Canyon formed?" and "How did Death Valley get it's name."
We went on kidblog.com and wrote about what we learned today. You can see our blog and comment on them form our wiki.
Go to sleep early, eat a good breakfast. ARMT test tomorrow!

Today we had our practice SAT's today and Mrs. white showed us pictures from her trip to Japan.
We skyped Mrs. White's dad in Africa and talked and asked questions about him about delivering our letters to the orphans We had a great time!!!!
We also emailed James(Mrs. Whites bff) and Mrs. White typed while we asked our questions.
Me and Alex haven't been putting any extra things like riddles and other things. We decided to put riddles every Fridays and Wednesdays.This week we might not do it this Wednesday so we will only do it on Friday.

Today we started off with finishing our letters and pictures to the orphans in Africa. Jackson and Tyler brought animal bracelets to give to the orphans in our envelopes. We gave each of them two. Mrs. White's parents are leaving to go back to Africa tomorrow and will be taking the letters to them. They promised to take pictures and send back to us! That will be exciting to see the orphans getting our letters, pictures and bracelets.
We wrote down what we learned about Africa from Mrs. White's parents visit yesterday. We are going to make a display in the hallway to share what we learned with the other 3rd graders.
We did a lot of math today, especailly A.R.M.T. practice. After lunch we did more A.R.M.T. practice. Then we quized each other on our study guides for our geography test. We took a picture of our class. Last was indoor recess.

This morning Mrs. Lindsey's dog got sick and her class came to our class until' she got back. When they were in here we did dear time, played mancala and did 5 minutes of independent reading but when she got back we stil did independent reading. After lunch we wrote down what we think we know about maps and globes. We also wrote a letter to orphans in Africa that Mrs. White ( Mama Micheal) knows. We also saw pictures and learned about the orphans. We had such a wonderful day!

Today while Mrs.White was in a comfrence with someone we went to Mrs.Lindsey's classroom and they tought us to do paper cranes. We also went over some ARMT math.
We organized our books and helped Mrs. White. Some people got to record in the studio with their book buddies. Such a blast we had today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today while Mrs.White was in a comfrence with someone we went to Mrs.Lindsey's classroom and they tought us to do paper cranes. We also went over some ARMT math.
We organized our books and helped Mrs. White. Some people got to record in the studio with their book buddies. Such a blast we had today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Parents,
Today we had computer lab.
We finaly got on wix.com and edited some of the things.
We played Fraction Bingo, learned geometry, presented our power point.
After we had P.E., our bookbuddies surprised us. They were on the carpet and were very quiet till we were
there. Us and our bookbuddies got to record in our reading studio.
After that we had computer lab time. We played Moshi Monsters. It was really fun!

What a great week we had! This morning we did dear time after that we did english. After P.E. we came back and we did independent reading. We also went over a couple of the A.R.M.T. practices. We also did a few math practices for S.A.T's. This afternoon we had recess! It was so much FUN! Tonight is the Talent Show it is only 5 $ for 1 adult students get in free.

Guten tag parents,
What a great morning we had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and interesting writing too!!!
We talked about making our characters more interesting by adding dialog, adding details about the character.
After writing we did English lessons on synonyms, antonyms, and adjectives. We read another 2 chapters in 21 Balloons. We are inferring words we have not heard before. Tomorrow we have a test on division. We also need to do Lesson 5 in the SAT booklet. We went over lessons 1-3 today.

This morning we started off with D.E.A.R. time (drop everything and read) and then we did writing time and we chose our favorite sentence out of what we wrote today. We had a few people record their stories in the recording studio. We practiced for the A.R.M.T. test doing reading passages and answered questions about what we read. We went to the computer lab and some people worked on their stories or power points and some did math games. We read our read aloud 21 Balloons. We had outdoor recess today.
P.S. Bring in class picture money or else Mrs. White will have to pay for them.

This morning Mrs White came up with the idea of a recording studio for us to record our stories to put on the wiki. The recording studio is in the closet in the middle of all of the school supplies and the book shelves. she put down pillows and stuffed animals for us to read too. Some people got to record their stories on the ipod to put on the wiki. We also did independent reading.We had writers work shop today,too! Sense we haven't had a lot of recess this week, Mrs. White decided to give us extra recess, but it was only indoor recess, but we still got to go outside for our regular recess.

We had DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time this morning. Then we read. Today we decided to read 21 Balloons for our read aloud. We only read the introduction. We played Tabby Cats (a math game). We practiced for our A.R.M.T Test. We went to the computer lab and tried to work on our african-american projects and sadly they didn't cooperate with us.

Today we had independent reading and writing in the morning. Then we shared our favorite sentence in writing.
After P.E. we had specials.(guidance)we learned that you should always be ourselves.we also talked about synonyms and antonyms. We finished our read aloud "Little House in the Big Woods." We are working on division story problems in math. We also spent part of the morning practicing for ARMT.
Nicholas came back from his trip from Paris so he told us some things he saw and learned!!!

Today we had a late start! We had P.E early, lunch early and it felt like
everything was early!
We talked about books and ways we could be responsible readers. We may start giving our selves self- evaluations of our reading during reading workshop.We made a cover for a book that we want to recommend to our friends.We also began learning antonyms and synonyms. We had indoor recces. some people got on the computer, some people played games, and some girls helped Mrs. White with making a mural.
I hope everyone enjoyed sleeping in this morning and waking up late!!!!

Snowy Day Friday 2-12-08
Today we went outside and had so much fun!!!!Though we were really cold!!!!!! We realized that it was snowing at P.E.!!! Everybody yelled that it was snowing.
We also had a snow-ball fight against Mrs. Lindsey's class! There are some picture's on our wiki, so check them out!!!!!!
We had our adjective test, bones test, and spelling test.
After lunch in our classroom we had our valentines party!!!!!everyone had so much fun!!!!

If its okay with you, your kids can bring in Valentines for the class tomorrow (if you want to). This morning we did dear time. After that we learned about ad-verbs. We also did division in our math notebooks. If you look on the wiki for homework you will see that we will have a adjectives test,bones test and spelling test tomorrow. Your kids can go on the wiki and play a bones game. Your kids will come home with a story with adjectives in it.

After that in English we learned about adjetives and in writing we looked for where we could add adjetives and we underlined adjetives that were allready on our paper.After that we had independent reading. We are beginning to learn about division in math. You can see what we have been doing in math by looking in the hard back math book that we have at home. Pages 39-51. Our read aloud that we are reading is Little house in the Big Woods. It is a great book!
We went to computer lab to type our African- American project.

We began our day by discussing appropriate behavior in the classroom. We listed promises to each other about how we will behave in the classroom.
We talked about jobs that need to be done in the classroom but haven't been getting done. We choose new jobs and added a few new ones. Our job is to post the class news each day. Another new job is to post homework.
We worked really hard on our famous African American projects. We read books and printed off information from the internet. Tonight we need to fill out 5 index cards with important and interesting facts that we find in our article print outs. We need to be sure that we read the article then tell an adult what we learned. We write what we learned but, not exactly what we read.(we need to write it in our own words).
We also changed seats and now we keep forgetting were we sit!!!!!
It was a great Monday!!!!

What Have We Been Doing in Class?
Reading: We spent the month of January reading books by Patricia Polacco. The students used the comprehension strategy, questioning and wondering, to understand the story, make predictions and infer. Before, during and after reading the books, we would write down the questions we have about the book. Questions before reading the text would come from examining the cover and title. Throughout the book we recorded questions we had and then again at the end of the book we wrote down what we were still wondering about the story. I wanted to make the students aware of the importance of doing this during their independent reading. Some of our favorite Polacco books are, When Lightning Comes in a Jar, Welcome Comfort, My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother, The Keeping Quilt, Betty Doll and Mr. Lincoln's Way. Writing: We have spent the past 3 weeks exploring the genre of personal narratives. Our kids are in the beginning stages of editing their own personal narrative. We began the unit by reading several published personal narratives and explored what goes into a good personal narrative, including sensory details to make their story come alive. After reading good personal narratives, the kids made a list of significant events and topics from their own lives. Then they began writing short narratives, not more then two pages. They chose their favorite, one they thought they could add too, and began working together with a partner, asking one another questions about their writing and giving feedback in helpful and respectful ways. After revision, editing and publishing, the stories will made into a class book, each student getting a copy.
Math: We began our math unit on Equal Groups by making lists of things that come in groups. They illustrated multiplication situations and wrote equations to match. We also highlighted multiples on 100 charts and discussed patterns and relationships. We used known multiplication combination to solve more difficult ones. We then were introduced to arrays to represent multiplications. We made cards to help us learn multiplication combination with products up to 50. Later this week and next week we will begin looking at division and examining the relationship between multiplication and division. We will write story problems for a class multiplication and division book. We are also beginning to take a closer look at time.
Testing: Testing will begin the week we get back from Spring Break. We have begun looking at practice questions in class and a practice testing booklet will be sent home this week.
